I bought this book after seeing a video of the author speaking about Palestine on YouTube. She spoke so beautifully that I needed to hear more of what she had to say. This book did not disappoint. It is very well written and I learned so much. I plan to buy and read all of her books. It gives me hope for the future of Palestine and of humanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars The "conflict" ......... ENDED

If the one-state reality of Palestine-Israel has long been obvious to anyone familiar with the situation, the argument for ending the so-called ‘conflict’ with a single democratic state has until now lacked a dedicated, authoritative resource. Dr. Karmi’s ‘One State’ answers that need brilliantly, carefully and systematically presenting the One State case from the ground up. The conclusion is not that it is ‘a’ possible solution, but rather that it is the only possible solution other than permanent apartheid.
It would be inaccurate to describe the book as a polemic, because the author’s approach is far more academic and comprehensive. She is quite explicit about the difficulties of achieving the One State goal, not least because many people on both sides are opposed to it. But in the final analysis, all roads lead to a single, secular, democratic state: as the author writes, that fact that the just solution may be difficult to implement, does not make it less necessary. Indeed Israel itself, through its seventy-five year determination to prevent a Palestinian state, has itself assured that inevitable end.
This should be required reading for every politician who continues to mouth the empty phrase “two-state solution”, whether in ignorance or political expediency.

This is an excellent exposition of the Palestinian situation with logical background historical detail. A well thought out critical analysis of the potential way forward for both the Palestinian and Israeli populations.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only solution

Proves conclusively, from a Palestinian perspective, that a two state solution is a non-starter and that one state is the only answer.
