Hagai Lober, father of late Staff Sergeant Yonatan Lober who fell in Gaza, responded on Radio 'Galei Israel' to an anti-Israel NGO film: "I think the greatest difficulty with this film, or with these claims in general, is that right from the start they force you into a playing field that dictates IDF soldiers must risk their lives so fewer enemy civilians, or even enemy terrorists, are killed, and so homes aren't destroyed."
"My son was killed because of a targeted operation, because they sent them to fight-as the investigation also shows—they sent them on a surgical operation inside homes and alleyways. Fire was opened on him from high, controlling buildings, which were later, of course, blown up. I have no claims whatsoever, not even a shadow of a claim, against Yonatan's direct commanders. They acted sharply, decisively, professionally, and protected my son's life and everyone's lives in the best possible way. But those were the tools they were given. Those were the missions.
My son is the collateral damage of these miserable decisions. It was strictly forbidden to enter there without first flattening the entire surrounding area. We are a bereaved family, we cry every day. Yonatan's children are growing up without their biological father... this damage could have been prevented".

These conflicts don't happen in a vacuum. You have to keep logically going back in steps to figure out, why these people are resisting in the first place.

Could it be someone invaded their land?
Reply
Zak Polo it can be also religiously motivated
Reply
Zak Polo could it be that radical Islam wants the Middle East all for themselves?!?!

Chana Rosenthal Baron So. Would that be an "existential threat" Father?

Ooogaa it sure sounds like one to me!

Chana Rosenthal Baron Explain please.

Blake Singer How can people invade a land they've lived in as long as we have recorded history?
Reply
Zak Polo that wasn’t what happened. Jews have been living on THAT land for thousands of years so how does one colonize land we’ve been living on? And how do we know it was Jewish land? Because the archaeological finds are Jewish and Roman. Romans brutally colonized the land from the Jews.

Ray Fletcher YES! The truth!

Tony Cizek Everything is Israel's fault. That's a tidy narrative to avoid responsibility.

Stacey Drucker, the Greater Israel Project is a fact.

Tony Cizek let me get this straight. There are 7 MILLION Jews in Israel and that 7 MILLION has destabilized 2 BILLION Muslims? Do you believe that?

Zak Polo, were the twin towers in Manhattan also on Islamic land?

Zak Polo what about the October 7th invasion of Israel

Zak Polo how could Israel invade Israeli territory?

Zak Polo Great News!!! Today’s United Nations announcement on the Western Hemisphere is a game changer!
ALL the countries of North, Central, & South America (Canada, USA, Mexico, Panama, Brazil, Argentina, etc etc) are ALL dissolving their nationhood and will no longer be occupying & ethnically cleansing the American continents! Their brutal apartheid rule is OVER!!
They are all restoring the governance of the Americas to the indigenous peoples pre 1492!
Zak!! Great minds think alike!
ANYONE with European, African, & Asian ancestry are being given 12 months to return to the lands of their forefathers!
After that Israelis will have NO EXCUSE not to do the same!
Exciting days ahead!

Zak Polo no based on history.

Zak Polo the article is about whether soldiers should use the very high-risk approach by searching surgically for the enemy/terrorist/Hamas OR the far safer approach of flattening the structure/location of the enemy. The father is of a soldier killed using the more dangerous approach.
Don’t use the article as your chance to bring up “you did that first,” “no you did that first” debate. That back and forth has no end and if you’ve followed this topic more than a few months you would know that very well.
Since you asked, no it wasn’t “their land.” Today’s Palestinian identity did not exist in ‘48. Maybe 1970-something. They may have had their village, town, or home but no national identity. A Palestinian living in Ramallah from ‘48 -‘67 lived in part of Jordan. One in Gaza, was part of Egypt. They didn’t resist against Jordan or Egypt being on “their land” for their own state. Why is that?
Let’s see, from you, some that logic you mentioned by answering my question

That's a confusing wording. It was forbidden to flatten before entering, or was it forbidden to enter before flattening?

I think you mean "clearing" the area and not "flattening"
