Baldwin's consciousness was intimidating to empire so much so the FBI was spying on him. Imagine being that threatened by a man and his typewriter.

As someone from Germany, this is absolutely eye-opening. The suffering of the Palestinians is a lasting consequence of f**sm in Germany - and yet so far it has never occurred to Germany to take on specific responsibility for that.

This is NOT the first time... If you recall, Martin Luther and the protestants left Europe because of religious persecutions and the direct result was the destruction of entire civilizations of indigenous peoples, from the Caribbean to North and South America.

Baldwin was indeed brilliant and an excellent writer. I would not call him a paragon of morality. He was one of the original race hustlers, wildly exaggerating his supposed sufferings and always quick to point out the errors of America, while never a word of positivity or appreciation for all that he benefitted from it. And make no mistake, he made a fortune from the largesse of America.

@stephencalder8357 the founding fathers were the original race hustlers. Baldwin wasn’t even sought after by the Nation nor King Jr during the Civil Rights Movement, yet he still spoke to what he knew. Sounds like you really never actually read his works nor have taken time to hear his words on the country he loved.
And as far as what he was “given” the recognition of his work was when he was overseas, not through the silencing hammer of Hoover during the time.
It is mainly only after that time period things got worse and not better via the machinations of the CIA. This country owes much to her people she denigrated and still does for so long.
Now, due to her perpetual greed, not even those she kept in line with distraction are safe from communal destruction.
If anyone peddled race, a man-made construct to centralize power, it certainly aren’t those for which it was used against and in many institutions still is.

After the clip cuts off, he continues... (The full transcript was published in "The Nation" on September 29, 1979 and is freely availabe if you google it.)
"But absolutely no one cared about the Jews, and it is worth observing that non-Jewish Zionists are very frequently anti-Semitic. The white Americans responsible for sending black slaves to Liberia (where they are still slaving for the Firestone Rubber Plantation) did not do this to set them free. They despised them, and they wanted to get rid of them. Lincoln’s intention was not to “free” the slaves but to “destabilize” the Confederate Government by giving their slaves reason to “defect.” The Emancipation Proclamation freed, precisely, those slaves who were not under the authority of the President of what could not yet be insured as a Union."

다만 같은 취지의 주장은 1973년 12월~1974년 1월자 The Black Scholar 인터뷰와 1979년 에세이 「Open Letter to the Born Again」에 분명하게 나타난다.
